Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials , Utilities and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI added 1.00% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI: MOTA ), which rose 3.46% or 0.10 points to trade at 3.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI: BCP ) added 2.13% or 0.01 points to end at 0.59 and Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI: RENE ) was up 2.02% or 0.05 points to 2.53 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were The Navigator Company SA (ELI: NVGR ), which unchanged 0.12% or 0.00 points to trade at 3.33 at the close. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI: JMT ) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 20.44 and Semapa (ELI: SEM ) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 15.62.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 15 to 8 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI: BCP ) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.13% or 0.01 to 0.59. Shares in Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI: RENE ) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.02% or 0.05 to 2.53.
Brent oil for May delivery was down 0.28% or 0.20 to $72.30 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $68.87 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 9.20 to trade at $2,928.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 106.19.
